[Flag of the Provisional Viet-Nam Republic Government] by Chrystian Kretowicz

In 1932, one of the most nationalistic and anti-colonial parties of Vietnam - VNQD (Viet-Nam Quoc Dan Dang), proclaimed, in Canton (Guangzhou), the Provisional Viet-Nam Republic Government. The flag they chose, heavily influenced by the Chinese Nationalist flag, was red with the party's banner in the canton, which was blue five white disks connected by bars. "In early 1941, the VNQD joined the (Communist) Workers Party of Viet-Nam, as well as others opposed to both the French and Japanese, in the Viet-Nam Doc Lap Dong Ming Hoi, the League for the Independence of Viet-Nam, which came to be known as the Viet Minh." (Thomas A. Cseh & John Sylvester Jr)
Chrystian Kretowicz, 6 February 2003
